MASTERCLASSES
As part of Black Forest Voices, we offer an annual accompanying masterclass for individuals. In 2022 you could immerse yourself in jazz & pop choir conducting with Jan-Hendrik Herrmann (Jazz Choir of the University of Bonn), in 2023 with Kim Nazarian (New York Voices) in solo singing.
In 2024 we even have two masterclasses on offer:
Masterclass 1: Arranging with ACCENT
Masterclass 2: Estill Voice Training with Patrik Thurner
Masterclass 1: Arranging with Accent
Calling all arrangers! Are you looking for fresh approaches and wanting to learn new techniques for your craft? Do you sometimes get stuck when working on an arrangement or even finding a way to start one? The members of Accent have all been in your shoes...and it happens to us all, whether we're beginners or experts. Accent is excited to offer a masterclass for experienced arrangers. During these 4 days, participants will learn specific techniques and be guided through fun exercises to apply them. Each session will provide a unique way to remove mental blocks during the arrangement process while adding lots of new tools to your kit. Best of all, we will foster a supportive team environment as we will regularly share and sing through each other's work. Get ready to enjoy the challenge!

The six self-described "jazz vocal nerds" from Canada, France, Sweden, England and the USA met on the internet, joined forces in 2011 and worked on songs and videos together online across long distances - and became YouTube stars as a result. Since then, they have released five albums, performed at the London A Cappella Festival, played dates across Europe, North America and Asia and performed two sold-out Christmas shows at London's Royal Albert Hall.
Masterclass 2: Estill Voice Training with Patrik Thurner
Get to know your voice by feeling, hearing and seeing it more clearly!
In this Masterclass we will have more time to go deeper into the Estill Voice Training Model and look at more tools (Craft) that it has to offer. We will work on your repertoire according to your artistic vision (Artistry) and look at how you can create Performance Magic. We will be looking into some theory of singing, body and acoustic feedback which lends itself perfectly for a group learning environment. And with some new vocal freedom and flexibility we want to dive into how you can authentically sing and interpret pop songs and jazz tunes on stage.
