COACHING CAMP 2026

Whether you're an amateur or a professional group, at any point in our careers it's important to keep evolving, to be open to feedback, to never stand still. With the Real Group, we were very lucky to have mentors early in our careers who helped us as a group find our own path and expression.“ (Peder Karlsson, ex The Real Group)

The Black Forest Voices vocal festival will once again be offering a coaching camp in the summer of 2026, where four selected bands and four selected choirs will be able to develop their musical skills in a protected environment while also being part of Black Forest Voices. The camp is extremely practice-oriented.

The bands and choirs work closely with two world-class coaches each – and receive input from two additional coaches from the festival. Two bands/choirs are supervised by one coach at a time and are equally active and observant participants within the camp. The group constellations and coaches are mixed during the festival so that the choirs and bands can get to know each other and work with both coaches. The Band Camp starts on Thursday afternoon, and the Choir Camp starts on Friday afternoon. Each band and choir will have the opportunity to perform at one of the festival concerts. The distribution across the various concert days will be announced at a later date.

JazzVoices Zurich (CHE) is a project-oriented vocal ensemble consisting of around twenty experienced singers from Switzerland and Germany. With a high degree of independence, the members work out their parts themselves in advance and concentrate intensively during rehearsals on precise sound balance, groove, timing, timbre, and expressive interpretation. The repertoire includes challenging, moving, and rhythmically driven vocal music from jazz, pop, and contemporary a cappella styles. The current program, “Moments Between,” highlights the magic that arises between the notes, between the performers, and in the exchange with the audience. The ensemble is led by Matthias Werder and Michael Kleiser.

Terrablue Voices (Norway) is a rhythmic vocal ensemble from Vestfold consisting of seventeen singers. Founded in 2016 by Kristina Olsen Gidefeldt, the ensemble combines its own arrangements with improvisational freedom. A central element is their work with vocal painting, a sign language that enables spontaneous musical expression. The arrangements, developed specifically for the group, range from four- to eight-part a cappella movements; each member sings with their own microphone, complemented by beatboxing. Coaching sessions with Tobi Hug and Anders Edenroth, among others, provided important artistic inspiration. In 2025, the debut album Nordic Sounds was released, exploring the group's Nordic identity with interpretations of Aurora, Highasakite, and Maria Mena, as well as original songs such as “Breathing.”
